Description

The Office of External Awards and Reconciliation is seeking an Accountant 1 who will be responsible for posting and recording of outside scholarships, OVR, and other state grants. This process involves working closely with the Office of Student Aid to ensure external awards are processed in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, this person will be responsible for processing Third Party Contracts for scholarship organizations that require an invoice directly from the University. Analyze and review documentation submitted by a Third Party to determine proper classification for setting up the Third Party Contracts in the student system for invoicing. Analyze and process mass quantities of scholarship payments. Compose a variety of correspondence with students and sponsors via email regarding tuition accounts, invoices, third party contracts and student financial aid. Answer questions on the telephone and in person from staff, students, and parents and sponsors. Process and complete receipts and vendor contract information for third party contracts, scholarships and other state grant invoices and review accordingly along with W-9 forms for tax purposes. Process check returns to awarding agencies when the student becomes ineligible for award funding. This person will routinely be called upon to complete assignments, to communicate information, ideas and instructions and to participate as a team member within a diverse workforce. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration or related field is preferred. The successful candidate must maintain a high level of professionalism and ability to meet specific deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, strong organizational skills, and proven record of success as a member of a professional team are desirable. Experience with MS Office Suite software and knowledge of financial systems is preferred.
