Student Financial Services-Loan Servicing and Collections unit is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time position as an Accounting Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting with the collection of current and delinquent loan and tuition accounts. This position answers telephone calls and online inquiries along with placing outgoing telephone collection calls concerning delinquent accounts. This position is essential for preparing reports on collection activity and default resolution, posting payments, processing payment agreements, performing address searches and updating account addresses. This position will also be responsible for processing Total Permanent Disability Assignments/cancellations for Federal Perkins and University loans and processing deferments and certifications for various student populations. Additional duties include preparing the daily deposits, Special Requests for Checks, assisting in pending gifts reconciliations, and document scanning. The successful candidate will need to stay in compliance with Federal Regulations, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and privacy laws such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing along with demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail is highly desirable. Experience with Micro Soft Office suite and knowledge of student and financial systems is preferred.
