Description

The Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences’ Digital Learning and Online Education group has an opening for an Instructional Designer. This position is part of the eLearning team, and will collaborate with faculty to design, develop, maintain, and revise semester-based online credit courses. Candidates must have an in-depth knowledge of educational and instructional design theories and emerging technologies, as well as background in developing courses and engaging educational experiences. The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate to faculty about best practices in eLearning and the advantages and disadvantages of various pedagogical and/or technological approaches. In addition, the designer may contribute to staff development for faculty that promotes sound pedagogical practices and learner engagement. The candidate must have solid experience with Learning Management Systems and multimedia production tools and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential; it is vital that this position builds and maintains positive, effective working relationships with clients in the college and within the work unit. This individual must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment and apply creative thinking to develop new solutions. The candidate will also be expected to use the team’s project management system, follow standard processes, and contribute to ongoing improvement and documentation of the team’s SOPs. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
