A support role and project asset for the campus community, the IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to students, faculty, and staff concerning their IT needs. This role is expected to provide proactive primary support for end users in face to face interactions, FAQ writing, and structured training delivery. Responds to calls for service through email, phone, and service desk platforms. Specialized expert in Windows, Mac, and mobile platforms. Completes assignments in project teams as technical support or technical lead. Physical ability to reach ceiling installations by ladder and lift ~50 pounds for equipment replacement is required. Expert knowledge in Microsoft: Windows 7 and 10, Office 2016, Office 365, Project, Active Directory; Macintosh: OSX.10 to latest; IBM: Endpoint Manager 9. Working knowledge of Extron and AMX AV; Management Technologies; Android: 7 to latest; Macintosh: iOS 10 to latest; TeamViewer: Version 8; Adobe: Creative Cloud; Atlassian Confluence: Version 5; WordPress 4 to latest; Applied Audiovisual: Classroom audiovisual, Live audio concepts, wiring, setups, maintenance, breakdowns. Familiarity with IT Service Management: ITIL; ServiceNow; Linux: Ubuntu, Debian; Crestron AV Management Technologies. Willing and able to adapt to the ever changing challenges and demands on the department. Excellent teamwork and team building skills are critical. Understands the value of a structured approach to problem solving and looks to create, assess, and improve streamlining avenues. Strong presentation skills in small and large group settings. Strong writing skills to document solutions and provide users timely, accurate information. Approachable and composed under fire. Understands and relates to users point of view. Knows his or her own personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and limits. Seeks feedback and gains insight from successes and mistakes. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
