The College of Engineering is seeking a talented and energetic Communications Strategist to identify communications and marketing needs for the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE). Individual will be charged with developing, planning, and implementing various integrated marketing and communications initiatives such as website content updates and development, social networking, e-mail marketing, e-newsletters, brochures, feature articles, press releases; creating, researching, and writing press releases on BME, ChE and College activities; generating and executing communication strategies and techniques for connecting with targeted stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, corporations, and alumni; coordinating communications and promotions for events; analyzing results of communications efforts and using them to improve future efforts; making recommendations for future marketing efforts; overseeing marketing budgets for assigned units. Requires extensive relationship building in order to foster collaboration and coordination among BME and ChE leadership, Dean’s Office administration, and other Communications Team members. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, attention to detail and a dedication to quality and customer service. Requires a self-starter who will be able to work independently with creative freedom as well as within guidelines, who gathers energy from being part of an innovative and dynamic group, and who has the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects from start to finish. Strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of Adobe CS Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and publication layout skills are preferred. Basic knowledge of photography and videography preferred. Comfort level using content management software and/or knowledge of HTML/CSS for website updates preferred. Candidate should be prepared to provide writing samples and examples of previous work. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
