The Harrell Health Sciences Library: Research and Learning Commons at the Penn State Hershey campus is seeking a Library Multimedia Specialist. Reporting to the Associate Director, the incumbent will be integrated into the Library Technology Team and will assist in maintaining library technology and spaces, while developing and delivering new programs and services. The library recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation that includes a One Button Studio and a Technology Innovation Sandbox with high-end computing, 3D design, 3D printing, Multimedia editing, video wall and virtual/augmented reality tools. The library is also moving forward to create an experimental classroom featuring integrated virtual reality capabilities. This position will work closely with faculty, staff and students to apply expertise in design, production and editing across a range of media formats and platforms to produce media-rich content including virtual reality, augmented or mixed reality, and 360 video. This includes the conceptualization, development and production of content containing video, audio, special effects, illustrations and animation elements. Responsibilities for this position include the following: develop multimedia, visuals, animations, and videos in support of instructional content; develop and support programming and services around Virtual Reality, augmented reality, and 360 video; collaborate on in-depth multimedia projects; create and edit multimedia, graphics, video and sound elements; determine format, approach, content, level and medium based on project objectives, target audience, budget, timelines, and available resources; develop and/or incorporate 2D/3D animation as appropriate; test new multimedia technologies and evaluate educational applications; remain abreast of multimedia technology directions, initiatives and trends to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations; perform usability testing and quality assurance of materials and ensure that created media are accessible to all users; evaluate third-party content and/or tools; support faculty or staff with multimedia implementation and manage learning objects in online repositories. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree related to learning with technology, in particular with an emphasis in STEM Education, is preferred. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills, as well as a demonstrated dedication to quality and customer service. We are looking for a creative professional who thrives in a team-based, collaborative work environment. Experience working with storyboarding, animation, motion graphics, 3D design, curriculum design and web accessibility (WCAG 2.0). Experience with instructional design and authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate considered a plus.
