Marketing Strategy Specialist (Product Strategy Specialist)

The Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences seeks a creative and detail oriented marketing strategy specialist to support Extension Assistant Directors of Programs (ADP) and Extension Program Teams in the strategic planning, development, marketing, delivery and evaluation of a well-rounded, non-credit product mix for each identified Extension Program Team. This includes leading the implementation and facilitation of the Program Development Process (PDP), which is built on Stage Gate® principles. The process serves as the foundation for the development of a comprehensive non-credit educational product plan, which includes education delivered through in-person workshops, publications, video, webinars, online courses, and other face-to-face activity, while also informing the allocation of limited resources to maximize customer and organizational priorities. This position will manage the Program Development Process, which includes helping clients define target audiences and audience needs, perform market analysis, develop recommendations for a portfolio of products, define and recommend pricing strategies, develop marketing strategy and key message/value proposition recommendations, and perform continuous post-launch product analysis and recommendations. This position requires extensive expertise in marketing and market analysis, product strategy (format and usability), and analytical/survey skills to collect, analyze, and interpret data. In addition strong project management expertise, strategic planning, and group facilitation skills are required. This position also requires outstanding leadership and team facilitation, motivation skills, and is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurial minded individuals. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are a requirement. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preference given to those with a degree in marketing or related program. The successful candidate will possess strong writing and editorial skills, excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communications skills, attention to detail, a dedication to quality and client service, and an enduring appreciation for diverse audiences that is reflected in content selection for all forms of communication. The position requires a creative individual with initiative, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage complex projects to successful completion in a timely manner, in coordination with multiple offices and individuals.
