Instructional Design


The Faculty Center is seeking an Instructional Design Intern to develop online and hybrid course materials for faculty at Penn State Harrisburg. Interns will be guided through the end-to-end process of the ADDIE model, applying instructional design theories and concepts, providing consultation to faculty on the design and structure of activities for collaborative and active learning, and developing assessment measures to gauge student learning. Interns will get hands-on experience with the development of these assets using Canvas, Penn State’s Learning Management System. Responsibilities and Duties: The Intern will be managed by an Instructional Designer who will guide and assist them throughout the instructional design process as needed. Interns will go through the course development process by conducting a faculty consultation, collecting supporting materials and documentation, and developing instructor-led training materials using instructional design theories and best practices. The student will be required to attend course update meetings with the client and training team and to deliver course materials in milestones established through the internship period. Qualifications and Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to be a self-starter and motivated employee. Experience developing training materials (preferred). Strong writing ability.
