The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) of the Penn State College of Medicine is seeking applicants to fill a faculty position (tenured/tenure-eligible) to collaborate on the administration of the MPH and DrPH global health programs. This position will have a primary appointment in the Department of Public Health Sciences. The Department consists of three academic divisions, namely, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, and Health Services and Behavioral Research. There are more than 50 faculty members in the Department (26 tenured/tenure-eligible) and more than 100 supportive staff members. The Department provides strong infrastructure support in biostatistics, study design, data management, research computing, project management and finance and administration. The graduate programs for the Department include an MS in Public Health, a Master of Public Health (MPH), a PhD in Biostatistics and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), which enrolled its inaugural student cohort in Fall of 2016. With its location in Hershey, near Harrisburg, PA, PHS has a strong collaborative relationship with public health scientists and practitioners within the PA Department of Health. PHS faculty members often collaborate with clinical faculty across the United States as well as within Penn State University. The successful applicant will also seek research funding from external sources for funding of the global health programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Department’s graduate programs through teaching and student mentorship, as well as serve on various Program, Departmental and University committees, as needed. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop/maintain an active, externally-funded research portfolio.
