The Student Farm at Penn State is now offering paid opportunities for current Penn State students interested in working and learning with the Student Farm in our third growing season! Visit to learn more about the program. Student farmers are the ambassadors to the farm. Essential roles include ensuring that safety, produce quality, and a fun work environment are maintained among co-workers, volunteers, Student Farm Club members, and community members and courses that may visit and work on the farm. Student farmers will learn about and manage farm production, harvesting, marketing, community engagement, produce donations, volunteer management, event planning, and more. Previous experience in relevant fields is welcome, but not as necessary as the motivation to learn and contribute to a positive work environment. Interns will complete a required 2-credit hour training during spring semester. Pay is $11.00 per hour. Summer work begins May 7, 2018 for 20-40 hours per week. Field work is primarily between 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., with occasional additional hours required. Fall work is approximately 12-15 hours per week. Work is primarily outdoors, with some computer-based work including record keeping and blog writing. Will drive a university vehicle as needed.
