Penn State Conferences and Institutes seeks a Summer Intern to help coordinate conferences and summer youth programs. The Intern will gain experience planning and delivering educational programs to a variety of audiences including adults and youth. The Intern will learn many aspects of program development and delivery, including (but not limited to) budgeting, task management, communication, marketing, contracts, registration, selecting venues, layouts and menus, problem solving, and customer service. The intern may also assist with daily office duties (answering phones, emails, copying, filing). The Intern will work closely with the entire Conferences and Institutes team to ensure compliance with all University policies. A successful candidate for this position should be knowledgeable about event or program management. A history of successful execution of small to medium size events would be beneficial. The ability to communicate clearly and the ability to quickly identify solutions to problems are critical to success. Flexibility and teamwork are valued. Preference will be given to a junior or senior, but experienced sophomores will be considered. The Intern must be pursuing a degree in an event management or related major. Hours will range from 20-30 hours per week. Some weekend and evening work is required during programs.
