Penn State Harrisburg is seeking qualified applicants to apply for a Drug and Alcohol Counselor position. A member of the Counseling and Disabilities team, this employee will provide individual and small group counseling to students seeking assistance, to those worried about D&A use of others, and to those referred for Penn State BASICS alcohol and marijuana educational programming. The Counselor will work with a variety of on- and off-campus constituencies to develop, present, and assess educational and prevention programming. He or she will develop a peer education and prevention program to focus on D&A. The employee will also engage in other outreach activities associated with Student Life programming. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in Social Work or related discipline or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Applied Clinical Psychology preferred. Experience in D&A counseling and/or prevention programming strongly preferred. The candidate will be licensed or license-eligible as a Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Psychologist, or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. The Counselor will work 10 months (August 1 through May 31) per year. Full Penn State benefits included.
