Description

The Energy Science and Power Systems Division of the Applied Research Lab (ARL) is seeking an undergraduate student to assist in metal combustion research. The successful candidate will assist in building and operating an experimental set-up to optically investigate the fundamental physics of metal dust flames as part of a comprehensive research project. They will also receive training in advanced research methods. The successful candidate will work up to 40 hours per week during the summers after their sophomore and junior years and up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters of their junior and senior years. Students completing their sophomore year in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Chemical Engineering are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate may be subject to a government security investigation. In addition to the standard background check, employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
