Description: The PTA Lab Assistant provides support to PTA program faculty and supports the mission of the program and university. Assists the Program Coordinator and/or Director of Clinical Education with supervision of PTA students engaged in skills and lab-based activities and with administration of skills and lab-based examinations. This is a part-time as-needed (prn) position. Reports To: PTA program Lab Assistant reports to the campus Physical Therapist Assistant Program Coordinator. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited PTA program. Physical Therapist Assistant licensure in the state of PA or licensure-eligible in the state of PA. APTA member preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Understand the objectives and goals for the PTA program and all assigned courses within the PTA program. Understand the current legal, social, cultural and professional issues related to the course topics taught in each course. Assists with the administration of skills and lab-based courses as directed by PTA program faculty. Remains current with content knowledge and technical skills commensurate with PTA practice and scope. Utilizes methods of assessment in achieving course goals and objectives as directed by PTA Program faculty. Communicates student performance to designated PTA program faculty in a timely manner. Supports the mission of the program, division, and College. Currency in contemporary practice of physical therapy. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations. Demonstrates ability to work with a diverse group of students. Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills. Ability to work a varied schedule commensurate with the needs of the program and as designated by PTA program faculty.
