The College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Extension Adams County seeks to hire a 4-H Summer Intern. This individual will function as a team member of the Penn State Extension - Adams County Extension Team and the state 4-H Youth Development program team. The individual represents Penn State and the College of Agricultural Sciences in interpreting, applying, and disseminating the latest research findings in 4-H Youth Development. The 4-H Summer Intern assists Penn State Extension – Adams County in conducting summer 4-H programming. The Summer Intern works under the supervision of the Penn State Extension – Adams County 4-H staff. Major responsibilities will assist staff in planning, implementing, conducting and evaluating 4-H Youth Development educational programs. On the local level, this individual is responsible for helping with office citizenship responsibilities directed by the Unit Director. Specific Program Responsibilities: Assist with planning regional 4-H events to include the recruitment of participants and volunteers. Effectively marketing the event to include writing pre and post new releases and use of social media. Plan, coordinate and manage assigned tasks for the specific event. Examples to include: 4-H Fashion Revue, 4-H State Achievement Days, 4-H Overnight Camp. Plan, manage, coordinate and teach portions of summer multiday school age educational days camps: topics for consideration would include gardening, junk drawer robotics, sewing and craft camp, foods and nutrition related themes. Plan and teach 4-H educational programs for youth participating in other youth organization summer programs around the county. Assist 4-H Staff with planning, managing, and conducting 4-H Fair as part of the South Mountain Fair. Ensure compliance with the County Affirmative Action Plan. Through public notification and “All Reasonable Efforts” make educational programs accessible to all clientele without regard to age, ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. Driving a motor vehicle is a required function of the position. A valid driver`s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Qualifications: Applicant must be a matriculating full-time student between sophomore and junior or junior and senior year of college. Organized and dependable. Self-motivated. Public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Positive role model. Familiarity with current Microsoft Office. Candidates must have access to a vehicle.
