Penn State Altoona invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research. The Associate Dean reports to the Chancellor, works closely with the senior leadership team of the College and University, and represents the College on a variety of University-wide councils and committees. The term “research” in reference to this position is inclusive of sponsored and non-sponsored research and aims to support all manner of scholarship and creative activity of Penn State Altoona faculty and undergraduate students. The position has responsibility for facilitating, coordinating, and promoting the research and creative activities of Penn State Altoona, and oversees the College’s research, creative activity, and sponsored programs office. The Associate Dean will provide leadership for research program development and administration; identify and communicate sources of external funding; facilitate interdisciplinary research projects; foster research collaborations within Penn State; develop relationships with industry partners, foundations, public schools, and private donors; develop and oversee major initiatives such as research centers; and promote undergraduate research and other forms of engaged scholarship. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of funded research, proven organizational and managerial skills, experience building and maintaining partnerships across units, and demonstrated knowledge of trends in national funding and issues in higher education. Candidates must be eligible for a tenured appointment at the rank of full or associate professor.
