The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for the position of Director of the Global Building Network. As Director, this individual will be charged with leading a global consortium of Universities, companies, and governments with the aim to dramatically improve residential, commercial and industrial buildings with respect to human health, comfort and performance, energy efficiency, and broader dimensions of sustainability. The Director will report to the Director of the Institutes of Energy and the Environment at Penn State, as well as an advisory board of leading scholars and practitioners of building science, management, policy and finance drawn from a network of Centers of Excellence on multiple continents under the auspices of the United Nations. As Director of the Global Building Network, this person will guide the Network’s programs and coordinate education, research and outreach with the Centers of Excellence, interact with stakeholders, and provide international visibility and leadership to the effort. The successful candidate is expected to identify and solicit external funds that will be utilized to expand key efforts and encourage innovation. The Director will be responsible for facilitating interdisciplinary education and scholarship, including advanced on-line and experiential education for audiences ranging from builders, building owners, architects and engineers to code officers, bankers and insurers. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent credentials consistent with a faculty appointment, outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to build internal and external partnerships. Proven track record of fundraising, leading multi-stakeholder strategic initiatives, and building international consortiums is preferred. As an administrator, the position is subject to yearly goal setting and review, and performance reviews. The home location of this position is University Park, PA.
