This position will support the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State. The Selected candidates will teach graduate courses in non-lethal weapons (NLW) technology and policy in support of Penn State and the DoD Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) venues. Class locations will be nationwide. Responsibilities include teaching the resident course: Non-Lethal Weapons: Supporting the Operational Art Across the Range of Military Operations at one or more JPME institutions; conform to JPME venues’ academic protocols (scheduling, class coordination, grading); and comply with Penn State protocols (timekeeping, travel). Requirements include a Master’s degree (terminal degree preferred) plus five years of relevant work and/or teaching experience. Military experience or research experience with non-lethal technologies and policy is required. Prior command of a military operational unit and familiarity with the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate is preferred. Prior teaching experience is required. Teaching experience at the graduate level is preferred. We are looking for former military officers, academicians, and researchers with experience/expertise in non-lethal technologies and policy. You must have a thorough knowledge of current/future NLW capabilities within the DoD and domestic law enforcement communities, how those capabilities support military operations, and laws and policies relevant to NLWs.
