Professors Jia Li (Statistics) and James Z. Wang (Information Sciences and Technology) are looking for a highly motivated and qualified Penn State graduate student to work on a very challenging research project related to statistical machine learning. The position will be a wage payroll for this spring semester. The aim is to develop new algorithms, software, and original research publications. Qualified candidates should have a strong background and interest in related fields, including statistical/machine learning, artificial intelligence, optimization, and application domains including computer vision and image processing. Candidates should have strong programming skills in C, python, R, and MATLAB, and have had experience programming large-scale systems. Candidates should also be experienced with parallel programming frameworks such as MPI and computing clusters.

These salary bands have been established to provide salary guidelines for staff positions.
