Description

Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) seeks a highly motivated IT Consultant to join its Digital Learning Environment (DLE) team. This position will primarily work with IT staff distributed across the University who participate in central endpoint/device management services, including Systems Management @ Penn State (SysMan), Cooperative Lab Management (CLM), Student Printing Solutions, and Virtual Application Solutions (WebApps/WebFiles), as well as the faculty and students who interface with these services. Responsibilities include consulting with IT units to analyze their technology environments as they relate to device management; coordinating technical projects that span multiple groups within Enterprise Information Technology as well as Penn State IT; and improving the service management process, including enterprise support and consultation, for DLE services. This position will also develop and deliver on-boarding as well as technical training to IT staff, in addition to meeting with current and future participants of DLE services to identify and evaluate needs, requests, and gaps, as well as provide technical guidance, for using or improving these services in their environments. A strong commitment to customer service, substantial technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving analysis and critical thinking skills, quality verbal and written communication and presentation skills, the ability to learn new things quickly and independently, and high performance in a team environment are required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarization with ITIL/IT service management best practices, Penn State IT organizational units, and Penn State security policies are preferred. This position also requires specialized experience in the following areas: IBM BigFix; ServiceNow; Active Directory; group policy management; Windows servers; database management; troubleshooting large desktop environments in Windows, macOS, and Linux; and software packaging, deployment, and license management.
