The Department of Psychiatry at Penn State - Hershey Medical Center seeks applicants for a professor-level, tenure track faculty position to lead projects in developmental neuroscience. The successful candidate will have expertise in the genetics and environmental influences on neural development, including the role of the microbiome. A PhD in neuroscience, psychology, or related area is required. For all positions, preference will be given to applicants with an established record obtaining external funding and publishing studies in high quality peer-reviewed journals, as well as a history of successfully mentoring students and trainees. The Department of Psychiatry is located in Central Pennsylvania, with locations in both Hershey and Harrisburg, providing ample opportunity conducting research in urban, suburban, and rural populations, and in inpatient, outpatient or school settings. The Department of Psychiatry has a strong connection with many other departments in the medical center and at the University Park campus of Penn State which provides strong support and collaborative opportunities for research, education, and clinical activities. Hershey, Pennsylvania is known for its high quality of life owing to its low cost of living, excellent schools for children, numerous entertainment and cultural events, absence of traffic, and close proximity to Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York City, and Pittsburgh
