Description

The Survey Research Center at Penn State is currently looking to hire Field Interviewers to administer surveys to elementary students in schools in the Guilford County, SC area. Successful candidates will be able to follow a very specific protocol; be available to attend mandatory 2 - 4 day paid local in-person training; be available to work from early January through mid-June and also available to work a minimum of 40 hours per month during the school day (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) for a minimum of three days per week. Applicants should live in or nearby Guilford County, SC, be willing to travel locally and have regular and reliable transportation and regular and reliable access to telephone service. Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodations: lift and carry 10 - 15 pounds of equipment and materials with or without accommodation, and climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment. Must have research experience or experience working with elementary-aged children; have strong reading and verbal skills and have basic experience with computer and Internet technology. Must be capable of establishing and maintaining a good rapport with study respondents; be self-motivated, reliable, organized, and detail-oriented; have the ability to keep detailed records of all work activities and administrative tasks; pass a criminal record check and obtain required clearances. The desirable criteria are: previous project coordinator experience; have an education or psychology background; obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; have experience working or teaching in school settings; have experience conducting observations in classroom settings; be a current or formerly trained observer in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). Any offer of employment may be contingent upon receipt of acceptable results from a background screening which may include, for example, identity verification, employment history, or criminal records history.
