Description

The Bryce Jordan Center is a 15,600 seat arena with associated meeting rooms, ticket office, ancillary basketball court, support kitchen, concession stands and employee offices at the University Park Campus of The Pennsylvania State University. It is a multi-purpose facility that is home to the PSU Nittany Lions and Lady Lions basketball teams, University commencement exercises, touring entertainment shows, and University and local community events. Seeking an Events Manager whose responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of each event that is contracted. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate proficient ability in work design, project management, financial planning and development of goals for accomplishing difficult unit assignments; demonstrate awareness of and researching emerging trends, and changes in employment regulations, policies and procedures to pro-actively address issues; recruit, manage, hire, train, coach supervise, schedule and evaluate event related employees; review completed work of others for conformity to policy, and effectiveness of approach; delegate more advanced tasks to others; facilitate optimal group dynamics and evaluate employee performance on difficult work assignments and recommend appropriate developmental opportunities; develop and implement practices that promote a culture of diversity, safety, and environmental consciousness and that is conducive to effective relationships among diverse groups of employees; maintain and develop internal and external relationships to increase marketing, sales and sponsorship opportunities; use diplomacy and advanced communication skills in unstructured settings; modify, adapt, or refine guidelines, if necessary, to resolve issues or problems; assist in financial success through cost containment and maximization of revenue; develop, evaluate, enhance, and/or implement quality improvement practices, processes, procedures, or policies that have an impact on unit operations. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
