Education Program Associate (Financial Literacy Associate)

The Penn State Financial Literacy and Wellness Center is seeking two (2) Financial Literacy Associates to provide students with skills, knowledge, and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding money management. The Associates will work closely with the Director and the Assistant Director for Financial Literacy and Wellness Center to offer excellent and effective student and outreach services and to form collaborations with campus stakeholders and community, corporate and foundation partners. Responsibilities include assisting with forming and maintaining relationships with faculty, student organizations, academic colleges, World Campus, and commonwealth campuses to support sustainable programs in financial literacy. Responsibilities also include training and supervising student peer mentors to achieve goals and objectives as determined by the Financial Literacy and Wellness Center. Through conducting presentations and classes for educational purposes, the coordinators will provide students, families, faculty and staff with financial literacy resources and consultations. The successful candidates will need to have a high level of respect for personal privacy and must be able to maintain professional confidentiality for privileged information and consistently demonstrate professionalism, have a willingness to identify and implement procedural changes to improve performance and productivity, have the ability to work with diverse populations, and to create a positive work environment. Must be able to use technology to prepare and deliver presentations. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Personal Financial Management, Business Administration, Consumer Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of Student Financial Aid and student loan repayment options is desired. Demonstrated experience and ability to conduct presentations on financial literacy topics is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
