A part-time Laboratory Attendant is needed to assist in the Department of Pharmacology and the Cancer Institute. This position requires collecting dirty glassware from laboratories and transporting them to the washrooms. Cleaning of glassware will be done both by hand and by autoclave. Accurately sorts and distributes cleaned glassware to the proper labs with minimum turnaround time. Handles all glassware carefully assuring minimum breakage. Maintains full inventory of all necessary glassware cleaning supplies and keeps equipment clean and in good working order. Supply laboratories with distilled water and towels. Transports lab coats to laundry room for pickup. This individual must show demonstrate ability to appropriately use equipment in performance of assigned duties and complete understanding of all phases of job, knowing how to prioritize duties and to make maximum use of time for cycling glassware through washers, dryer, and sterilizer. Consistently is on time and ready to work at the start of assigned shift and shows the ability to see what needs to be done without being asked and all other duties as assigned. Must observe Penn State College and University policies and regulations concerning laboratory safety. Job Requirements: Knowledge of autoclave operation and glassware washer and drying oven. Operation of still for production of glass distilled water. Education: High School education or higher plus 1 to 3 months of effective experience.
