Description

This position will provide services to prospective and newly-admitted international students including advising on immigration options, visa issuance, port-of-entry admission as well as evaluating financial and immigration credentials to determine issuance of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Certification of visa eligibility. The Pre-Arrival Adviser will assess financial guarantee documentation as required by regulation for issuance of the I-20 (Certification of Visa Eligibility). This position will guide newly admitted students through initial processes required by the University and DHS. Requires familiarity and comfort with web-based databases to produce the I-20 and provide data to DHS. Requires an understanding of F and J regulations to advise students and their families about the processes and procedures necessary to come to the U.S. Additional requirements/skills include excellent communication, attention to detail, adherence to confidential information, ability to work with a diverse population, and ability to work independently and efficiently as well as part of a team. The candidate must be technically savvy with strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to adapt to new software and database programs as needed. Experience working with international student populations is a plus. Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident to meet the DHS regulations for access to SEVIS. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
