Description

The Laser Processing Division, located in the Materials and Manufacturing Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University (PSU), is looking for a junior Additive Manufacturing Engineer to assist faculty and staff of the Center for Innovative Materials Processing through Direct Digital Deposition (CIMP-3D) conduct experiments using various additive manufacturing systems. Responsibilities include: Provide and/or develop preliminary designs for additive manufacturing processes; program path plans for additive manufacturing processing; operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art additive manufacturing systems for metals; participate in system and process selection for additive manufacturing; and document process parameters. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (Professional Engineer license accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree), or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is desired. Experience in a machine tool environment is desired. Experience in CAD/CAM Modeling of Siemens NX software is required. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
