The English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center (EPPIC) seeks an organized, detail-oriented Administrative Support Assistant to assist the program in delivering high-quality English language support services to international students and scholars at Penn State, and supporting faculty and advisers who work with internationals. Responsibilities include leading outreach efforts (45%); supporting operational and instructional activities (35%); managing the office space and supplies (15%); and providing reception services (5%). Duties include implementing outreach/advertising campaigns, designing and distributing program flyers, maintaining mailing lists, sending reminder messages, and updating the program website. Staff support duties include scheduling meetings, planning special events, reserving rooms, and processing registration lists, feedback surveys, and receipts. This position will also be responsible for managing the office, including supplies, workspaces, promotional items and program materials. Reception duties include greeting visitors, answering the phone, and responding to EPPIC email. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will show: ability to independently monitor calendars and deadlines to fulfill responsibilities; awareness of organizational goals and personal commitment to contribute to them in coordination with other team members; strong verbal and written communication skills including intercultural sensitivity; initiative in suggesting and implementing improvements to evolving processes; willingness to communicate proactively with the Director with status updates and needs related to goals. Effective knowledge of Microsoft programs, website management, and desktop publishing software applications is strongly preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Will work 40 hours per week, 10 months a year (summer off), Monday-Friday. Full Penn State benefits included.
