The Pennsylvania State College of Nursing’s Sexual Assault Forensic Evaluation Telehealth (SAFE-T) Center seeks an experienced sexual assault nurse examiner to function as the Center’s Clinical and Training Nurse Coordinator. The SAFE-T Center is a federally funded project that aims to develop an effective model for delivering 24/7 expert Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) consultation and support via telehealth technology to health care professionals in rural and underserved communities conducting sexual assault forensic exams. There are two core components to this position: Expert sexual assault nurse examiner team coordinator; and SAFE-T Training Coordinator lead. The Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of telehealth mentoring and quality assurance for a geographically dispersed virtual call team responding to a minimum of four rural sites. Duties include the development of evidence-based protocols for telehealth mentoring/consultation; building, training and providing ongoing support to an expert SANE team; and providing ongoing quality assurance for the team to ensure fidelity to the service plan. As the SANE team coordinator, the candidate will assist with clinical coverage of telehealth consults during the weekday. The training component consists of overseeing the creation, development, and execution, of dynamic, innovative, and evidenced-based trainings for different audiences. Training needs include comprehensive training for the expert nurse team on how to conduct telehealth consultations, training for the nurses at sites that will receive telehealth services, creation of base 40 hour training for SANE nurses, and trainings as needed for community stakeholders. The Nurse Coordinator will work with an instructional designer to create hybrid courses that allow for distance education for some topics. This is a leadership position within the SAFE-T Center. We seek a candidate who is passionate about the provision of high-quality, compassionate sexual assault care as well as someone who wants to nurture and support others to develop these skills. This individual must have exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills. The ability to maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and partners throughout the project are essential. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in nursing and SANE-A and SANE-P certification is required. Must have at least 5 years of full-time equivalent experience as a sexual assault nurse examiner. Related experience that is highly desirable includes: previous management/coordination of a sexual assault response team; management of start-up and/or complex projects; and willingness to travel (largely within Pennsylvania). The position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to function to advance grant objectives in coordination with the grant investigators. Attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. Please electronically submit both a cover letter and CV with your completed online application. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
