The Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO) will use this posting to fill multiple roles within the office. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Greet visitors entering Shields Building. Direct visitors to Bursar, Registrar, Admissions, and Student Aid offices. Provide campus directions and parking passes to visitors. Answer telephone and direct calls as needed. Record student tour guide absences, late arrivals, and tour praises. Answer prospective student emails and work within the UAO’s computerized system. Help to cover the UAO reception area by checking in families for their visits and answering questions for visitors to UAO. Serve as the UAO reception area representative by providing coverage for UAO staff during lunch breaks and other absences. Assist prospective and current Penn State students that visit UAO, connecting them with an UAO counselor as needed. Communicate on a daily basis with program partners as well as the Undergraduate UAO Office staff. Provide information regarding University offerings to prospective students and families. Serve as a tour guide when necessary. Update tour guides on any specific details to their tour. Take the initiative to solve problems, conflicts, and answer questions to improve visitor experiences. Provide feedback from external and internal program participants to UAO Staff. Communicate with residence hall show room students prior to each tour. Coordinate students into tour groups on-site. Assist the UAO visitation interns with tour assessments, if needed. Assist with the planning for Private Group visits. Assist with data entry and other UAO office data entry work as assigned. Assist with other projects and duties as assigned. Individuals should have professional personal demeanor, dedicated customer service, and the ability to provide accurate information to visitors. Candidates should possess good attention to detail, and strong organizational and planning skills. The student employee should be reliable. Opportunities in this position to learn technology skills that will be valuable upon transition into the workforce. The ability to relate well to prospective students and their families is also required. This position will be from January 8, through May 4, 2018. Please keep in mind Penn State students holding multiple paying positions at Penn State cannot work more than 20 hours total per week.
