Applied Research Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park Campus invites applications for an appointment as a Research Assistant. The successful applicant will work with the Adverse Environment Rotor Test Stand team within the Vertical Lift Rotorcraft Center of Excellence at Penn State University in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. A Master's of Science degree in aerospace engineering with research experience in the field of rotorcraft icing and with expertise on experimental testing and modeling of ice accretion are required. The successful applicant will have research experience conducting rotor ice testing, quantifying ice adhesion strength on ice roughened surfaces, and developing ice adhesion strength empirical models from s experimental data. The successful candidate should also have specific knowledge and experience in the development of ice scaling laws and prediction of aircraft performance degradation due to ice accretion. The successful applicant must have programming experience in LabVIEW, and MATLAB. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. You must be a U.S.Citizen to apply.
