Description

The Office of the Bursar centrally manages the billing and collection of tuition, mandatory fees, room and board charges, and other charges for the University Park campus, the 24 Commonwealth campuses, and World Campus. The Accounting Assistant 5 will serve as a team lead for the staff providing customer service to students, parents, and authorized payers. This position trains new customers service staff, handles large volumes of complex issues pertaining to student accounts, and manages escalated customer phone calls and in-person escalated customer service issues. The successful individual will analyze, research, and review student debits, credits, enrollment records, financial aid, student accounts, refunds, installment plans, and billing statements. The work of this position has significant impact on both the customer service staff at the Bursar, as well as the customer service experience for students and families. This individual will also be responsible for working with other offices and campuses for the University and provide the appropriate referrals to customers. Knowledge of elementary accounting and bookkeeping procedures preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to multi-task are essential. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Accounting and Student systems are highly desirable.
