Penn State New Kensington seeks an Enrollment Services Specialist 3 (Admissions Counselor) to recruit students for the University, maintain relationships with school counselors, participate in special visitation and recruitment programs for the campus, and regularly communicate with prospective students and applicants. Primary duties include visiting high schools and participating in college fairs, transfer events, and on-campus events to present Penn State information to prospective students and their families. Other responsibilities include: provide in-take services, including taking student/parent phone calls and responding to e-mail; advise, counsel, and provide information to prospective and current students on University programs and processes, as well as eligibility requirements for admission and/or financial aid; conduct individual appointments and group sessions with students and families; communicate with a wide variety of audiences internal and external to the University; act as main contact for athletes interested in applying to the campus and the liaison for athletics department; work in collaboration to produce and maintain marketing campaigns focused on the recruitment and yield of students; serve on campus committees; and attend training and development for the Enrollment Management team. The candidate should expect to work some nights/weekends, and some out-of-state travel will be required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is preferred, and previous experience with a CRM (customer relationship management) system, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and analyzing data is desirable. The successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to travel locally and out-of-state on behalf of the campus and University, and be able to work in a flexible, team environment. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of the job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Our 70-acre campus in scenic, rural Westmoreland County is situated only 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, and the location offers a wide range of lifestyles from urban to rural. It is a student-centered campus where the coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 9 baccalaureate degrees and 5 associate degrees. Students and faculty at Penn State New Kensington have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
