Marketing and Communications Manager (Assistant Director)
Responsible to the Director of Marketing and Communication this position is a lead in the development of communication strategies in support of Undergraduate Admissions' university-wide student recruitment initiatives. The successful candidate will develop and execute communication strategies to include social media strategies, admissions website strategies, and planning and development of materials intended for Undergraduate Admissions audiences. The successful candidate will collaborate with partners within Undergraduate Admissions, University marketing representatives, campuses, colleges and other units to develop and execute production of these strategies. The position assists with oversight of a $1 million budget for producing and distributing recruitment materials. Supervises and assesses the activity of a six-member Customer Service Center, which fields more than 100,000 calls annually from prospective students, family members, school counselors, and others. The person filling this role will counsel applicants, parents, and school counselors regarding Penn State admissions, conduct information sessions for prospective students and their families, and participate in and administer other admissions activities as assigned. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe applications is required. Candidate should possess strong project management skills, writing/editing ability, excellent verbal, presentation, and organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects.
