The laboratory of Dr. Sally Mackenzie is seeking candidates for a position in the management of plant populations (overseeing planting, cultivation, harvest), design of experiments and breeding (selection and crossing). The duties will include planning of planting and cultivation, and organizing harvest and seed cataloging for the growth chamber, greenhouse and field experiments for research. Careful monitoring and data collection on plant phenotypes to include collaboration with other lab members on analysis of phenotype data (inheritance, stress response, etc.) Development/Testing of DNA markers which involves collaboration with lab members to implement and test efficacy of DNA-based marker systems to facilitate plant selection. The selected applicant will also oversee support personnel and train undergraduate and graduate students working in the lab. The successful applicant will also assist with management of the grant received to support this research. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
