Penn State Harrisburg, School of Behavioral Sciences and Education, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education-Early Childhood Education to begin August 2018. An earned doctorate in early childhood education, curriculum and instruction, or a related field with an early childhood focus are required. The successful candidate should have a strong record of scholarship with potential for external funding; excellence in teaching; and knowledge of current policies and practices associated with teaching young children. Special consideration will be given to candidates with PK-4 teaching experience, expertise in early literacy or mathematics instruction, and a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations. Candidates will be expected to establish and pursue an active research agenda, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, participate in academic advising, engage in scholarly activities, and supervise candidates in field experiences. The position offers opportunities for involvement with the Capital Area Early Childhood Training Institute. Penn State Harrisburg has an enrollment of 5,045 students and is located in Middletown, PA. The College is easily accessible via interstate and rail routes from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and New York. We provide NCATE-accredited teacher education programs in elementary education with early childhood and middle-level options; offer a post-baccalaureate program in PK-12 special education; and the M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum (with an option in early childhood) and in Literacy Education.
