The Department of Biobehavioral Health (BBH) in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) invites applications for a full-time (48 week), non-tenure track Instructor position for its online undergraduate degree program offered through Penn State’s World Campus. The individual who fills this role will instruct up to nine sections of BBH course offerings per year (up to three courses per semester in fall, spring, and summer). Although instruction will be primarily online, some in-resident instruction may also be involved based on departmental need and it is expected that the individual hired for this position will be able to work primarily from the University Park campus. Additionally, depending on teaching load during a given semester/year, the individual hired for this position will engage in other program development and service initiatives, including (but not limited to): development of additional course offerings; assisting with and performing online course maintenance and improvement tasks; engaging in and/or leading initiatives to build community among students; collaborating with a broad range of BBH departmental faculty and staff on departmental service tasks. The desired candidate will hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biobehavioral Health or a related field, including (but not limited to) public health, psychology, or the biological sciences. Instructional experience in areas related to BBH is strongly preferred, as is experience with online instruction. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. An attractive benefits package is available. To be considered for this position, applications must be submitted electronically and should include: a cover letter describing interests and qualifications, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three professional references. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a suitable candidate is identified. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
