The Penn State Small Business Development Center (www.sbdc.psu.edu) provides one-on-one consulting to prospective and current small business owners. This would be a 20 hour per week commitment and the student would be working with small businesses located in central Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate would have an interest in entrepreneurship and preferably firsthand experience working with or owning a small business. The successful candidate will understand basic small business accounting and be able to assist in the financial analysis of same. Additional critical skill sets would include excellent written and verbal communication skills. Also knowledge of technology based businesses would be a plus. A well written cover letter should include details of relevant experience and why the student feels they would be a good candidate for this position. A resume that outlines the background must accompany the cover letter. The resume and letter should note any direct small business experiences, such as a family owned business or direct small business banking/lending. Interviews will be scheduled in SBDC offices in Innovation Park of selected qualified applicants following the close of the posting. Possible Spring 2019 Graduate Assistantship available based on performance.
