Description

Responsible for all activities related to recruitment, admission, degree program requirements, and curricular matters for the graduate program in Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology, the interdisciplinary M.P.S program in Ag Biosecurity, and for undergraduate minor programs. Develop procedures to track student progress to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; audit and monitor progress. Serve as liaison between department and prospective graduate students, the Graduate School, and the International Student Services Office. Process applications, arrange recruitment visits, and assist the Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Committee. Perform ISIS functions, assist students and advisers in resolving questions. Schedule courses and teaching facilities. Coordinate student scholarships and graduate student travel awards program; request, collect, and compile nominations/applications, prepare award forms, track student compliance with award requirements, and follow-up with appropriate actions. Enter graduate assistantship appointment forms. Collect and maintain data and prepare reports. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given to those with related experience in an administrative office setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must possess excellent communication (both verbal and written), good organizational and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work with a high level of accuracy. The successful candidate must demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences. A working knowledge of the Penn State's Integrated Student Information System (ISIS), curricular procedures, and Microsoft Office including Outlook strongly preferred. Knowledge of Penn State's Integrated Business Information System (IBIS) helpful.
