Financial Planning and Operations, a division of Enterprise Information Technology, is seeking an individual to manage the Financial Services unit of the organization. The position will manage the day to day operations of the department and supervise staff. Lead and participate in Financial Services and Enterprise Information Technology initiatives and projects. Hire, train, coach, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff. Coordinate and facilitate routine meetings and team professional development opportunities. Represent Financial Services in EIT initiatives and leadership meetings. The position will perform advanced financial analysis in support of new and existing financial initiatives, including scenario building, rates development and long range forecasting of income and expense. The candidate selected for this position will gather and research information to recommend solutions or respond to requests made by EIT Leadership and will include, identification of concerns, risks, and potential costs/benefits. Will provide executive level summaries, recommendations, or options that adhere to University policies. This position will be expected to identify process improvements for functions supported by the Financial Planning and Operations unit, especially with regard to business process transformation, policy compliance, and fund stewardship. Facilitate the development and reallocation of operating, Sustainable IT and salary budgets. Analyze costs, prepare program and project budgets, carry forward requests and distribute funding through unit. Prepare budget requests, allocations, distributions and overall unit financial planning. Other responsibilities include preparing analyses of various accounts, identifying trends and issues, and recommending solutions. This position requires a person who is detail oriented with proven critical thinking skills and who has the ability to prioritize and work independently. Additional requirements include proficiency with electronic systems, exceptional listening skills, clear verbal and written communication skills, effective presentation skills, and knowledge and adherence to applicable Penn State policies and guidelines with the ability to interpret policies and guidelines for others. The ability to thrive in an open team environment and support work environment behaviors that have been collectively established by the group is a must. A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion is required. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills are required, as well as the ability to use advanced accounting and management software, communication skills to persuade and influence a variety of people to achieve results. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Due to the financial or fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
