Penn State Lehigh Valley seeks a highly motivated sales-focused person for a full-time position that will serve as the Corporate and Workforce Training Manager (Education Strategy and Planning Manager level 2 or 3). The selected candidate will provide leadership for the Business Development unit in the new Center for Business Development and Community Outreach. Specific emphasis of this role will be to lead the strategic enhancement of adult professional development programs offered by Penn State Lehigh Valley to respond to corporate training needs, stimulate economic development, and expand entrepreneurship initiatives in the region. Job responsibilities will require the selected individual to work closely with local businesses, industries, and organizations to help them meet their economic and workforce development needs through customized, income-generating, credit and noncredit programming. The Corporate and Workforce Training Manager will be responsible for researching potential opportunities, qualifying potential clients, and collaborating with them to determine their needs. This includes making appointments and visiting with clients to identify, develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of a wide variety of innovative educational programs to be offered on campus and at other locations. Attending community meetings for outreach and development purposes will be required. Additional responsibilities include: interacting with adult learners; developing and monitoring program budgets; planning and coordinating marketing; and providing various levels of support for conferences and training programs. A typical schedule for this position includes day, evening, and occasional weekend hours depending upon appointments and programming. Candidates should have knowledge of the Workforce Development needs of organizations within the Lehigh Valley region and be willing to travel frequently throughout the area to visit local businesses and community organizations to make successful sales presentations. The position will report to the Chancellor. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
