The Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education in the College of Agricultural Science is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant to serve as staff assistant to the Department Head, performing complex, detailed tasks to support academic and administrative responsibilities. The selected candidate will provide support for the Promotion and Tenure process for department faculty, coordinate collection of faculty information for annual and extended performance reviews, collect peer teaching reviews and assemble SRTE results, oversee recordkeeping and reporting. Attend monthly department faculty meetings and create meeting minutes in electronic format. Prepare charts, graphs, and complex PowerPoint presentations, gather information and summarize for annual department report. Responsible for support of department bylaws, manage the annual election process for committees in accordance with bylaws. Work directly with faculty to initiate and coordinate Experiment Station Project establishment and reporting. Oversee visiting scholar process from initial contact until arrival, including data entry into I-Start and communicating with the international office. Assist with editorship of Department Head, maintain calendar, coordinate meetings within the department, college, and University. Act on routine matters and refer others to appropriate personnel. Delegate work as appropriate and assist with problem resolution and development of new procedures. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with little or no supervision, multi-task, and be pro-active in preparing for deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office with excellent PowerPoint skills desired. Working knowledge of University systems and experience in an academic department preferred.
