Description

Assist faculty, staff, students, and community patrons to use the Harrell Health Sciences Library at the Penn State College of Medicine campus in Hershey, PA. Perform basic circulation functions such as registering borrowers, charging and discharging library materials, locating library materials, both in the library and online. Answer basic information questions about library materials and services and refer patrons to appropriate librarians when necessary. Assist library patrons in the use of computers, printers, photocopiers, etc. Maintain the stack areas of the library by re-shelving and shelf reading of library materials. Assist with receiving of items in transit from other libraries. This position requires knowledge of basic library use and organization, in addition to computer skills sufficient to do electronic searches and to use other specialized library software. Candidates should have a commitment to proactive customer service, communication and organizational skills, and working knowledge of computers and office equipment. This is a part-time position, approximately 6-12 hours a week. Evening and weekend hours are required.
