Description

The Office of Physical Plant is seeking a professional GIS Specialist to assist with the maintenance and development of OPP’s enterprise GIS. The GIS Specialist will be a team member of GIS within the Facility Asset Management (FAM) group within the Work Control Division of OPP. Position is responsible for field collection of utility, environmental, landscape, and landbase features. Position assists in maintaining OPP’s Enterprise GIS by utilizing GPS to update GIS data for University Park and Commonwealth Campuses. Position serves as a liaison to OPP units including Engineering Services, Design Services, Utility Services, Construction Services, and Commonwealth Services for maintenance of Enterprise GIS. Position works with OPP staff to identify and implement changes to existing GIS layers. Position works with OPP staff to create new GIS layers. Position develops custom hardcopy and digital maps. Position supports GIS users in Engineering Services and other departments throughout OPP. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field, and demonstrated GIS work experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience with GPS and ArcGIS for Desktop is preferred. Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, or AutoCAD is preferred but not required. Excellent customer service skills are required. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
