Penn State is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative hands-on Cloud Solution Architect to lead in the planning, design, and development of enterprise cloud solutions that have a direct impact on the overall mission of the University. This position will partner with University stakeholders to confirm understanding of business drivers and strategy, and propose the appropriate technical options; work with a team of engineers to design and implement secure cloud solutions with emphasis on delivering Penn State’s overall cloud computing strategy; assist in the design and development of native cloud architectures, technical and operational design documents, development of standards and guidelines, and management of best practices and architectural governance; and work with colleagues to assess, evaluate, and migrate current on-premises solutions to the cloud to leverage cloud-native best practices. The successful candidate will establish and foster strong relationships with a broad audience of colleagues, service providers, vendor partners, specialized peers and management; be willing to enthusiastically learn new skills and technologies; handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with a close attention to detail and minimal oversight; solve unique and complex problems; guide and coach a group of highly skilled specialized and business professionals in the use of cloud-native technologies; assist in developing on campus engagement. Knowledge of multiple cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google) is desired. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
