The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) is offering a social media internship in Spring 2018. The institute uses social media to promote ICS events and initiatives within Penn State and to raise our profile with external audiences. Intern Responsibilities: The intern will work with the ICS communications team to grow our social media presence: participating in creating, scheduling, and posting content to social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter; tracking and reporting metrics; monitoring social media trends; and contributing to social media strategy. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and actively interested in science, engineering, or high-performance computing. Basic knowledge of social media platforms and analytics is required; experience with MailChimp, Hootsuite, PhotoShop, and WordPress or similar applications is desirable. Candidates should possess excellent written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to exercise professional judgment in curating and posting social media content. Photography and/or videography experience a plus. This is a paid internship for Spring 2018 with the strong possibility of renewal in subsequent semesters. The Intern must be available to work approximately 12 hours/week; some hours may be worked off-site. The opportunity is open to both upper-level undergraduates and graduate students.
