The Penn State School of Music is seeking an assistant professor of Music Education specializing in elementary general music. This is a tenure track, 36-week academic appointment with a start date of August 10, 2018. Full University benefits apply. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in music education courses, supervise student-teaching appropriate to the specialty and direct graduate research. The successful candidate must hold a terminal degree in music education and have a minimum of three years successful public or private K-12 school teaching experience. Collegiate teaching experience is preferred. Preferred applicants will be certified or have extensive knowledge of one of the following music teaching approaches: Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Kodály, Orff Schulwerk or Learning Theory. Other areas of interest or expertise could include: teaching students with special needs, early childhood music education, music therapy, urban education, or teaching diverse populations. The successful candidate will maintain an active and highly visible research agenda that will include publications, presentations, workshops, and outreach activities.
