Penn State’s College of Arts and Architecture is seeking an individual with creative talent and technological expertise who has a strong understanding of end user experience. The successful candidate will be an experienced Drupal site builder and theme developer, and will be an integral part of the College’s communications team. The position will involve designing, developing, and managing Drupal websites, completing new feature requests for existing layouts, developing site architecture and navigation, adhering to accessibility standards, and utilizing search engine optimization and analytics. Candidates must possess a strong working knowledge of the Drupal user interface, Drupal theming, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and SEO best practices. Knowledge of PHP, MYSQL, Drush, systems administration basics, Google Analytics, and front-end build tools (grunt, gulp, webpack, etc.) strongly preferred. The ability to test HTML and CSS for various browsers, operating systems and platforms is a must. The position requires a thorough understanding of web standards, strong knowledge of front-end Drupal theme development, and demonstrated understanding of design techniques and standards as they apply to interface design. The successful candidate should exhibit excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, and a demonstrated dedication to quality and customer service. The individual must possess outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. We expect the individual to show a demonstrated interest in, and aptitude for the application of new and emerging technologies in web communication. The candidate will ideally have knowledge of systems thinking and the ability to form organizational processes. Experience in the arts, design, or learning sciences disciplines is a plus. This individual may represent the College and serve as a liaison on various communication and College/University committees, and will interact regularly with clients across the college and its units. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
