Description

Guide the administrative leadership, faculty, and staff in the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department in support of their research and teaching mission. The position will lead multiple administrative areas and staff including Finance, Human Resources, Space/Facilities, Safety, and Information Technology. Developing, implementing, and maintaining the financial and business systems will be required for current departmental operations as well as new, strategic operations to promote a dynamic academic unit. Budget preparation as well as the development of financial strategies for existing and new programs will be needed for long-range forecasting of income and expenses. Oversee the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives with data-driven assessment while recommending changes in operational procedures based on a broad perspective. Included is the coordination of the Department’s activities with other units in the College, the Institutes, World Campus, and across the university. The person holding the position will represent the Department throughout the University and to external advisory boards by reporting on operational, strategic and tactical initiatives. It is imperative that the person holding this position foster a welcoming environment by enabling programs that support diversity in all policies and practices including hiring, retention, and promotion. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
