Black School of Business


The Black School of Business at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenure track, renewable fixed-term position in strategic management and international business. This position will be made at the rank of instructor starting August 2018. Required qualifications include: A minimum of a Master`s in Business Administration (MBA) or related field, with a PhD or DBA preferred. Evidence of high-quality management teaching experience with international business and/or business strategy teaching experience a plus. A demonstrated commitment to excellence and advancement in teaching, including use of current and emergent technology. Documented experience or familiarity with online team-based competitive business simulations. A commitment to work collegially with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Black School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, listed among the Best Business Schools by Princeton Review, and offers 9 undergraduate majors, a blended MBA delivered at two locations, a Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), an online Masters in Project Management (MPM), and a jointly administered Masters in Manufacturing Management. The Black School of Business occupies a $30 million facility with the School of Engineering which provides a basis for multi-disciplinary educational experience for students, interdisciplinary research for faculty, and joint opportunities for industry engagement. A major endowment provides significant support for the School’s programs, scholarships and graduate assistantships, technology resources, outreach activities, several faculty chairs and endowed professorships, and new programming initiatives. Teaching responsibilities will consist of the equivalent of up to 24 undergraduate credits for the academic year. Teaching activities will include residential instruction and the possibility of on-line instruction. Specific teaching assignments include the undergraduate capstone course in strategic management and upper division courses in international business and/or international management. Research Support includes full access to major statistical packages and databases, as well as funded travel to professional meetings. Salary is negotiable and competitive with other AACSB-accredited schools of business. Students and faculty enjoy the beauty of the college’s 854-acre campus, located minutes away from the heart of Pennsylvania’s fourth-largest city. Metropolitan Erie has a population of over 280,000 and provides a variety of recreational and cultural activities year round. Erie is located at the intersection of major interstate highways nearly equidistant between Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Local airport service is available in addition to easy access to the three international airports – all within two hours driving time.
